Art Glass

From 1973 to 2005, Baldwin produced a body of unusual glass artworks, fabricated primarily with German hand-blown, hand-rolled antique glass.

He received architectural, interior design, and residential commissions in which his sense of space brought luminous fantasy landscapes and otherworldy objects, often using 3D and depth effects popular with theatre scene painters.

Paint on Canvas

These are atmospheric canvases of metaphorical scenes, exploring space, light, and feeling. Baldwin seeks to indicate, not to represent, elements of a landscape, to evoke an emotional response for the viewer.

In his current series of acrylic paintings, Origami Cloudscapes, Baldwin uses an artist’s “split palette”, meaning a warm and a cold set of minimal colors.

Repainted Photographs

These digital images designed for giclee are hybrid works suitable for posters, cards, screensavers and the like, where photography and overpainting converge into a fresh visual language.

The artist extensively toured the coasts of California and Oregon, gathering many digital images from which to draw.
